Losing Belly Fat?
Okay, Here are my stats, I am 14yrs old, freshmen, 5ft 10in tall, and I weigh 185lbs. I already know that I am overwieght, but I just need some help with exercises. The area i want to lose weight in the most is in my belly area. What exercises can I do to lose the belly fat? Won’t doing sittups and cruches etc make me gain mucle? I don’t want to gain muscle, not yet, I want to burn the fat first, then gain the muscle, not gain muscle under the fat. Also, what exercises can i do to lose my “man boobs” or the fat on my pecs? I am trying to change my lifestyle so please help me, THANKS so much.

ummm I am 5 ft 7 in tall and I am 185 lbs…. but I played three sports and worked out a lot, especially for swimming during my high school years, (now I am freshman in college) I was kind of a chubby guy when I first started sports in high school but I lost lots of fat and gradually gained muscle during those four years. What I am trying to point out is that becoming slimmer shouldn’t really be the goal of your exercising. The real goal should be improving your health and pursuing the ways that can make you healthy; then you will eventually slim down. So eat right, exercise right, but never beat yourself with how you look right now because you are just starting high school and there is so much more than just looking nice. If you can, you can try to play any sports for your school, it is the best way to get into shape and also make lots of friends. And your weight doesn’t mean anything, like I said I am 5’7″ and 185 lbs. Most people see me as a very fit person.

Hey man. I was thinking of how the dietician there mentions eating a healthy diet. My intsrument is like this man, eat vegetables all the time! The excersizes mentioned are excellent. If possible try yoga?!

you just described me when i was younger. i got so sick of being overweight especially when i got into highscool. do a lot of cardio. running, sprints, biking, sports, anything that will make you sweat. do this daily but try not to do the same thing everyday. mix it up and start off kind of slow. dont try to kill yourself right away, you’ll have to ease into this hard work. once you go for about a week, start running or biking longer and longer until you cant go anymore. also, quit eating junk. stick with vegetables and fruit for snacks and whole grain stuff. its pretty easy for teenage boys to lose weight as long as you really want to and dont quit. as for your ‘man boobs’ these might not completly go away from running and losing weight, but if you start lifting weights you will see a big change. i still have boobs, but now they are pecs because i started benching and lifting so my chest got hard. just work hard and dont give up if you dont see changes right away. it takes time.

Hey man,dont be impatient.Do cardio like running and cycling and try yo loose the fat over a year.
The good way to motivate yourself is taking picture of yourself topless and looking at them everyday and realizing your goal

First of all, understand that you can’t spot train – what I mean by that is you can’t target the belly over any other part of the body for weight loss. The ONLY way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you take in. Period.
You say you want to burn fat first before you gain muscle – this simply isn’t a good plan. Muscle burns fat 24 hours a day – weight training is very important to a weight loss plan. I’d suggest a long walking or bike riding cardio-vascular program – a simple one – in concert with a meaningful diet, in the short term, with a professionally mapped out weight-training program in the long run.

Actually, you should be doing a combination of cardio (running, swimming, bike ridding) and lifting some weights and doing crunches. As for the man boobies, they have pectoral weight resistance machines at the gym, and i do believe that pull-ups and push-ups works out those pecks. Good luck!
