Good on you for exercising. You’re off to a good start. Now you need to get your diet in order — it will make you or break you. Just take a common-sense approach. Cut out the fast food, junk food, soft drinks, refined flour/sugar and saturated fat as much as you can. Drink lots of water, and eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain breads/cereals/pasta, lowfat dairy products, nuts, and lean meats (preferably fish and poultry). How long it takes is up to you. If you’re serious about your diet and exercise you can lose that inch and a half in less than a month. The Men’s Health and Women’s Health websites have all kinds of good info, including diet-friendly recipes, workout tips, and research into vitamins and supplements — they’ll tell you what helps and what is hype.

Depends on how much of a work-out you are capable of doing. Religiously doing crunches at least once a day & adopting healthy eating habits should get you there in about a month.

Wow, you run fast!
Running and basketball won’t help lose the fat around your waist quick. They are cardiovascular exercises.
You need to do sit-ups and push-ups for the abs.
Good luck, and I know the pain of push-ups, but think of the results!
