To Burn Fat, More Reps Vs. More Weight? And Suggestions For Home Exercises I Can Do When Not At The Gym?
I’m a 15 year old guy, with decent muscles, but I’ve got a layer of fat covering them. I work out between 3 and 6 times a week, and I need some tips.
1. 20-30 reps with average weight, or 12-15 reps with high weight?
2. What are some home exercises I can do to help burn fat?
The three main sections I need to work on for fat-burning are my stomach, pectorals, and my… Er, “Gluteals”.
Any advice? My main goal is to look okay by the time summer rolls around. Not ripped with muscle, I just want to look better.

You should definitely use a heavier weight. If you are not challenging your muscles with a heavier weight, no matter how many reps you do, the muscle is not going to change shape. You can also look at it from the aerobic vs. anaerobic view. More reps would be aerobic, more weight would be anaerobic and anaerobic exercise is better for fat metabolism, while aerobic exercise burns more carbohydrates. I’m a 16 year old girl, who lifts weights 4 days a week, and I can tell you I see girls in the gym all the time who are lifting 10 lb weights day after day and their bodies never change because their not putting enough stress on their muscles. I get compliments all the time from people on how fit and toned I am. I don’t have huge muscles, but its important to continually increase the resistance in your weight training routine so your muscles stay challenged, that’s how you will see results.

To burn fat you need to switch to cardio exercises which burn fat from all parts of your body. Any strengthening exercises will just build up the muscle underneath the fat. Also watch what you’re eating – eat healthier foods and in smaller portions.
