Should I Do Crunches Even Though I Have Fat On My Stomach?
I still have to lose 20 lbs, but will doing crunches help me burn calories and fat off my stomach?
Or should I wait till I lose my layer of fat and THEN do crunches?
I don’t want my work to go to waste.

You can keep doing crunches even before you lose the layer of fat. Crunches help tone your abdominal muscles which muscles increase your metabolism which will then aid in burning stored fat. But just so you know, even if you lose 20lbs you still could have some body fat on your stomach area or you could actually not lose the weight, but lose body fat because muscle weights more than fat. I would lose the fat first and then do the crunches, trust me im in the same situation as you. But if you do crunches now it would kinda go to waste because your abs are behind that layer of fat so no one would even see them.

Doing just crunches won’t loose fat in stomach….there is no spot reduction. You would be better to do more cardio and some weights to burn the fat. Crunches will tone your stomach muscle, and can be done any time….no need to wait till fat is gone.

read this article about abs and you don’t need crunches. As for the muscle that would end up behind the fat either way.

Definitely do them! They will give you muscle in your abs which is gonna get you that flat stomach you want. You should also do some cardio though to get rid of that tummy fat.

crunches will help tone your ABs but it won’t help you lose weight in any other spots. try jogging in place for a cardio workout to burn fat.

i would focus on doing cardio and burning all the fat first
then do crunches
