ten minutes wont cut it im afraid, you need(unfortunately) at least 20-30 minutes of running or walking, the more you do the faster the fat will burn, also you can help the process by doing weight training because the more muscle you have the more energy(calories) your body will have to burn to send them blood. there is no general amount of calories to burn in order to lose weight. but the average person consumes 2-3 thousand calories per day, so if you can cut out 500 calories and add maybe 30 minutes of running a day, you should loose the weight pretty well.
