Can I Lose My Fat Stomach By Building Muscle?
I am 5″5 140 pounds with around 20 something percent body fat. Most of it is on my stomach and chest. Everywhere else like my arms and legs are skinny. The question is, would I be able to burn the fat by building muscle all over my body since muscle burns more cals than fat? I work out everyday, cardio 2 miles everyday, and one day bi and tri, next day chest back, next day abs and side (forgot what those back/side muscles were). I intake around 1200 calories a day, but if I plan to build muscle, I will increase it to around 2200. Either I lose my stomach first by sticking to what I do, or change my diet so I can build muscle to burn fat.if not, then I lose my stomach first, then build muscle after

no the muscles you build would be under your layer of fat

with me personally, when trying to lose weight, I try not to exercise too much. I makes my body crave lots of carbs and usually defeats my weight loss efforts.
I usually try to get to a weight I’m comfortable with, then start to gain muscle.
Works best for me, I’m sure others would disagree

You if you want to loose POUNDS, thats not the best thing to do. Becuase working out and gaining muscle will make you weigh more, although you will be toned.Dieting is best, but a fat tummy could just be a a family gene. Best thing to do its loose tummy weight then tone up.

Yes, do crunches and stuff to tone your muscles and then do lots of cardio to help get rid of the fat that covers the muscles in your abs.

Theoretically, yes. Muscle burns more calories than fat, but it’s hard to build muslce (gain weight) while burning fat (losing weight). I’ve found it’s easier to lose the weight first, lots of cardio (up your runs to about 9 – 12 miles a week), then, once you’ve lost the weight, build muslce. To be perfectly honest, what you eat is more important than how you work out. Stay away from starches and sugar. Examples of starches are pasta, potatoes, bread, etc. Examples of sugars are cereal, doughnuts, sugar, and fruit. I would stick with poultry and fish for protein and vegetables for everything else. Give yourself a cheat day once a week so you don’t go crazy. Good luck.
