Ab Exercises Make Stomach Bigger?

Also, if you build abs, but have fat over them, will the abs make your fat push forward more?

actually yes. doing crunches works your abs and makes them bigger (as all muscles get when you work them) If you have the same level of fat on your stomach and your abs are bigger (stronger) then your stomach will be bigger. Usually when you do crunches you burn up fat as well so it’s not going to be noticable unless you only do crunches. and as posted, you cannot target areas to lose fat. Fat is lost on the extrimities first such as hands/feet/face. Last to go is your stomach fat.

Well, there are many advantages to ab exercises such as better posture and an all around increased matabolism in the body. Sadly, if your body fat is not low enough, no matter how much you work on your abs they will never show through until you burn up the fat around them. If you are building up your abs they could get bigger making your stomach push out a little. However, the difference is usually very small and often looks better. The new ab muscles will help reduce the saggy look to your bely fat that has accumulated due to gravity. Even though the same amount of fat will be there, it is usually in a moer aesthetically pleasing position.

You cannot “target” your abs and lose fat there. You have to lose fat all over, which needs to be done through cardio.
No, I wouldn’t think that your stomach would get bigger if you are working your abs but not losing the fat. Your abs should not push forward. When you exercise be sure to hold you abs tight and in, this will help develop that flat and not out.
